Clare Minter logo

Hello and a very warm welcome to my website...

Suffering pregnancy discomfort? Morning sickness, nausea, constipation or back/pelvic pain may be adding to the exhaustion you're feeling. Perhaps you're feeling anxious about what lies ahead too?

Trying to conceive? It's normal to feel anxious if things haven't happened yet, but stress can have a further negative impact on fertility. Unexplained or secondary infertility may be causing more worry.

Struggling with hot flushes, night sweats or disturbed sleep? Perimenopause symptoms can make life miserable... perhaps you've noticed brain fog, increased irritability or low mood too?

Reflexology is a gentle holistic therapy that may provide help for all of these issues…

Treatments encourage deep relaxation and have been shown to:

relieve stress

improve sleep

ease tension

lift low mood

enhance feelings of wellbeing

Maternity Reflexology, Fertility Reflexology (including preparation for IVF) and Menopause Reflexology sessions, take place within a tranquil healing space. You’ll be able to escape the pressures of daily life and totally unwind during each therapeutic session.

I also offer general reflexology, to support a wide range of health conditions. Treatments may be particularly beneficial for stress, anxiety, insomnia, digestive disturbance (including IBS) and hormone imbalance. Many of my clients enjoy monthly sessions after their initial health issue has resolved, as reflexology can be a valuable tool in maintaining overall wellness.

I've been a Women's Health Reflexologist for over 24 years and understand how hormones can challenge body and mind at different stages of life. I have an holistic approach and love working with clients willing to embrace positive lifestyle choices, to optimise their health and wellbeing.

My practice is located in a peaceful rural setting, close to Saffron Walden and Thaxted. It's within easy reach of Cambridge, Bishops Stortford, Stansted Mountfitchett, Haverhill and Great Dunmow. Free off-road parking is available outside.

Trying to conceive

Fertility issues can bring a myriad of emotions, but stress can further impact the ability to conceive. Reflexology helps by promoting deep relaxation and may encourage natural hormone balance - and possible regulation of the menstrual cycle. Calming sessions may be especially beneficial when preparing for Assisted Conception (including IVF) by helping to reduce production of the stress hormone, cortisol. I'm here with a listening ear and to provide support throughout your fertility journey.

Expecting a baby

Pregnancy often brings common discomforts of nausea, constipation, back or pelvic pain and mood swings. Reflexology can be valuable throughout pregnancy, to help ease discomfort and reduce anxiety about what lies ahead. Each nurturing session provides quality time to completely switch off from the outside world and connect with your little one. I'm passionate about supporting you throughout pregnancy and would love to help you prepare for the best possible birthing experience.

Menopause

Perimenopause can bring hot flushes, night sweats, sleep disturbance, increased anxiety and brain fog. Reflexology can provide restorative time for mind and body to rebalance. Treatments work well alongside HRT and are beneficial if you're keen to take a natural approach. As I've experienced my own menopause challenges, I know how difficult this time of life can be! I love using specific reflexology techniques and providing holistic lifestyle advice, to help you navigate this transition.

Reflexology does not claim to cure, but restores balance by encouraging the body’s own natural healing processes.

Reflexology may help if you're planning to start a family or are already trying to conceive. Perhaps you have 'unexplained' or secondary infertility, endometriosis or PCOS? Reflexology may help to relieve stress as you prepare for assisted conception (including IVF) and can be gently supportive - whatever your fertility journey.

Menopause support reflexology

Reflexology provides gentle support throughout the menopause transition. Sessions are a calming experience and may help to relieve hot flushes/night sweats and other troublesome symptoms. Treatments may also help to improve sleep, lift low mood and restore natural balance.

Calming sessions encourage deep relaxation and can help you to unwind and escape from the pressures of everyday life. Treatments may help to reduce stress, improve sleep, relieve tension, lift low mood and lead to an enhanced feeling of wellbeing.

Facial reflexology and Zone Face Lift

Facial treatments can be especially helpful if you find it difficult to switch off a busy brain. Soothing facial reflexology creates a sense of calm and brings a natural glow to the skin. Zone Face Lift adds facial massage and the use of tools to 'lift' and sculpt the face - helping to soften fixed facial expressions and promote a fresher, more radiant complexion.

Baby, child and teen reflexology

Reflexology is suitable for all age groups and can be especially helpful during the formative years. Sessions can be adapted to suit babies, children or t(w)eens. The calming effects of reflexology may help when your baby is suffering with teething pain... and sessions can be a great way to relieve stress, if you have a teen worried about exams.

Perimenopause and Menopause

*Research has shown that reflexology can reduce vasomotor symptoms (hot flushes/night sweats) and help improve the quality of life for menopausal women

* (E. Gozuyesil, M. Baser, Complement Ther Clin Pract. 2016 Aug;24:78-85. doi: 10.1016/j.ctcp.2016.05.011. Epub 2016 May)

Hot Flushes, Increased Anxiety or Brain Fog?

Menopause can be a time of great emotional upheaval and may create many physical challenges too…

There are numerous symptoms that may occur during Perimenopause, including:

Irregular or missed periods

Scant or heavy flow

Hot flushes

Night sweats

Insomnia

Bloating

Loss of libido

Brain fog

Strange body odour

Vaginal dryness

Dry eyes/mouth/skin

Hair thinning and loss

Stress incontinence

Anxiety

Low mood

Lack of confidence

Symptoms may fluctuate, but are seen as a normal part of the ageing process and if you’re over 40, declining hormone levels are usually the cause. Reflexology has been shown to relieve stress so it's a great way to ease the anxiety you may be feeling.

Lifestyle choices have a considerable impact on symptoms and during your initial consultation we’ll explore beneficial changes you can make that could make a difference. Reflexology works very well alongside Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and provides additional calming support.

If you feel that your quality of life is being severely affected, I'd encourage you to talk to your GP to discuss all of your treatment options.

Reflexology treatments during Menopause may help to:

Promote restful sleep

Encourage deep relaxation

Relieve anxiety

Reduce hot flushes and night sweats

Lift low mood

Enhance overall wellbeing

Reflexology for Fertility

Struggling to conceive?

It can sometimes take a healthy couple up to twelve months for pregnancy to occur, so if you’re feeling anxious because things haven’t happened yet, why not give reflexology a try?

Infertility can cause immense anxiety, which may further impact the entire reproductive process. But reflexology encourages deep relaxation and is great way to ease stress naturally.

It may also help if you're struggling with irregular (or absent) periods, or a hormonal condition such as PCOS orEndometriosis - regular treatments may help to ease symptoms or regulate your menstrual cycle.

Reflexology can be especially supportive if you've decided to embark upon Assisted Conception and will help to ease stress at each stage of your IVF cycle. I've been a Fertility Reflexologist for over 16 years and I’m delighted to have seen many happy outcomes!

Reflexology can be a wonderful way to relax and connect with your little one...

Treatments are a nurturing experience for any mum-to-be and will allow you to have some much-needed relaxation time during pregnancy.

Balancing Hormones

As women, we’re governed by hormones that will fluctuate throughout our lives.

The action of hormones causes powerful changes within the body that may sometimes cause a condition that may make conception more difficult:

  • Irregular Menstruation (infrequent/absent periods)
  • Dysmenorrhea (painful periods)
  • PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)
  • Endometriosis
  • Adenomyosis

Reflexology may help by:

  • Easing muscular tension - helping to reduce pain
  • Calming cortisol production - encouraging natural hormone balance
  • Promoting deep relaxation
  • Lifting low mood

Feedback from affected clients, who have attended regular reflexology sessions has shown:

  • Reduced PMS
  • Regulation of the menstrual cycle
  • More condensed menstrual flow
  • Reduced bloating
  • Improved mood
